Bulls Eye
Fortunately we never had to use a gun, the only place we did was at shooting ranges. Dad won the District Championship a few times, though he never took it seriously as a sport. Once he was dragged to State Championship and without any practice he managed to bag the silver medal in Pistol shooting.
I was involved in shoot out at the District Championship once in a Shot Gun event, it went on and on other events where delayed, finally I lost the first place to the guy from the army. At the School, once the NCC boys where having shooting, with .22 rifles, I wasn’t old enough to be in NCC. I went and pestered the NCC teacher to let me shoot. The event was supervised by two guys from the army. So the teacher asked me to borrow a uniform and use the name Vij, some one who was absent. I was there, 5 shots, each one of them bulls eye, the guys from the Army wanted me to go to Delhi for Republic Day Competition and the teacher was ‘arre yeh kya kiya marwoge mujhe’ (wht did u do u will get me killed) since I wasn’t from the NCC. The high point was when in NCC I used the Light Machine Gun, that was some fun.
But keeping Guns means a lot of responsibility and any one who is short tempered, the kind of people who just loose it, should not keep one. Never ever play the fool with a gun, the saying is, empty guns fire, so pointing a gun towards any one even if we are 100% sure that its empty is a strict no no. While firing a gun lot of things have to be made sure off, especially when it’s a long range weapon like a rifle. I would never fire until I am sure about the final destination of the bullet, it should either head for the sky or the ground or be hitting something which I can see. The angles are very important. Stray bullets have resulted in many accidents. And always keep out from the reach of the children. As a 7-8 year old I almost shot my sister. I picked up the Air Gun, thinking it was empty, aimed towards my sister from a few meters, ‘aaj mai tumhe khatam kar dunga’ and pulled the trigger and it actually fired, thankfully since it was too heavy for me I missed her, it could have been a real disaster, even though an Air Gun but from that close it could have been lethal.

I am against any kind of firearms at home. It could be very dangerous because no one can predict when somebody is going to lose his cool. But I suppose, like you said, it may come in handy and act as a deterrent if there are bad elements around.

i LOVE guns..just love them! Since the age of 15, i have wanted a pistol with silencer in it, but so far, no one wants to get me a license. Can u help? i promise i am not the short tempered variety at all.. and when i kill anyone it will not be in anger alone.. promise!!

here after I dont dare to wake u up when u are asleep:( Cos I am scared U have a Gun. lol
Jack baba yeh Gun bachcho ki kelne ki cheeze nahi hai, goli nikal gaya tho, Jaan jaatha hai :))

Sorry Jackal but I am totally against any kind of firearms. I think they are extremely dangerous, you may not agree with me but I think guns kill people and not people kill people. I did not allow my son to even play with a toy gun because I did not want him growing up thinking it was something to play with. I know in the hands of mature eople nothing will happen. But how many times have we lost our temper and even a quarrel and I think if a gun was laying around you may have used it even playfully. In the world we live in there are many b ad elements and just think what would happen if everyone carried a gun in their pockets. it would be a sorry state.Forgive me it was not my intention to offend any one because it is each persons right to have whatever they want. its just my view.

no doubt its very dangerous.....n tht's y i said its not for ppl who cannot keep themselves in control...n tht is why the government has a long drawn process for giving licence...
how do we know:
seems u are despearte :) well i can't help much...if u seriously want one you have to apply at the district magistrates office for a licence....will take abt 6-8 months...but u need to have a clean record with the police.... .)
boldnbeautfiul:
here after i dont dare to wake u up ...hahaha...its not for beautiful ppl like u.....but those ugly bad guys..........bachcho ki cheez..hmm well sach mei bachpan se chalyai hain guns.. :)) now u need not fear any one..bas mujhe batao . )
starry:
i agree that its dangerous too.....but with so many bad guys arnd with weapons if u dont have one..they just walk all over u....i guess it depends on which place u r living......on many occasions we have to travel to places in night where going without a gun will be sheer madness.....
By Jackal, at 10:52 AM
i tried an m1 sub and a wilson pistol. it was kewl.
so what other guns u hav
By Jeseem, at 2:41 PM
Jack, I'm just not for guns or any sort of dangerous stuff. I'm so much against killing. Its with so much love, passion & hard labour that a mother brings life into this world after 9 months of carrying the baby.....not for it to be snatched away by any person in a fit of rage/anger or any other manner.
Diseases & the like we cant do anything & agreed that once a person is born, death is inevitable but it is surely not for someone else to take the life away.
My son is already crazy abt guns & keeps saying I'm gonna shoot u (to one & all) & I get so disgusted everytime i hear the same tho I know he still doesnt know what he means. Thanks to our violent cinemas.
Sorry I'm just not for violence. It sucks.

Hey,
U got a gun!!!
wow!!
But why do u need a gun?
I mean..do u really need a gun??
By Ekta, at 2:13 AM
WOW! I think I would freak out if I am to own a gun. I don't mind using one, but owning one is different. I would be so burdened by the responsibility. Guess guns are not for the weak-hearts.
By Queen Bee, at 2:56 AM
why would you need a gun ??

Welcum….wow how did u manage to lay your hands on tht sub…..must have been fun…….we have pistols .25, .32, Webley Scott .32 revolver, rifles besides this one, 250 Savage, 30 Springfield and Shotguns
Nishu:
Welcum…….without doubt it’s a risky thing and extreme care has to be taken to avoid accidents….
Has to be me:
Yeah every kid I suppose freaks out abt guns…….thnx to the movies…….
“Its with so much love, passion & hard labour that a mother brings life into this world after 9 months of carrying the baby.” I agree with u fully….but with so much crime wht do u do..here if u call the police they arrive after they are sure that the culprit has gone…..do u know in north frequently there are gangs who break into houses kill every one in the house and then clean up the place dozen n dozens of such incidents when entire families have been wiped out……..if u have a gun u know u have a chance in such situations……..a frnd was robbed and shot dead on the street…..wud he have met the same fate if he had a gun..may be not…
few yrs back some ppl entered out house at night, took away few things but did not dare touch even the doors of the rooms in which we were sleeping..yes they are locked from inside..they did not want to wake us up knowing we have guns..but if we did not have any guns..probably I wud not be sitting here n writing this..…they kill but they cud also protect lives..act as a deterrent……..in the family at least once the gun was able to save a life……my grandfather’s cook was attacked by a leopard..nothing wud scare the animal…luckily my grandfather had a rifle and shot the leopard…..the cook had been so badly mauled but recovered in 2 yrs……..
ekta:
well I really don’t need it..cozz we already have other guns in the house..actually dad has this passion for shooting….at targets : ) on shooting ranges ..but yes if there are no guns in the house, probably we wud not be able to sleep peacefully …..
Queen bee:
Yes using them is fun..i mean for us it’s a sport……besides it serves to protect…
kusum:
daaro mat haha...arre one they protect..two its a sport too.....
By Jackal, at 11:49 AM
I went to vegas and visited gun store. here in california too there are some good ranges.
By Jeseem, at 4:43 PM
Wow. Quite a passion u feel about guns no?
I bet u r in love with one of the models.
Had tried shooting an airgun once. But then i am such a dodo. Cudnt even get d target.
Hope u enjoy shooting with ur gunr ( err only nonliving targets ;)
By AJ ! Serendipity !!!, at 10:32 PM
Point noted Jackal & in a way I am tempted to agree with u.
But on second thots imagine if all of us think that way....I mean like...u've a gun to protect urself, so do I.....& lets say for arguements sake most of us tend to own one. Imagine the kind of violence it wud bring....cos I know there are times when each of us tend to loose self control & even for the slightest sign of anger we might tend to misuse it.
Also like u mentioned in ur case....abt how u missed ur sis...tho ofcourse it wasnt intentional. The chances are brighter for such mishaps to happen. God forbid, but imagine if something like that were to happen...would u be able to forgive urself? Atleast I surely can't.
Talking abt the robbers...yes there are ppl here in this part of the world who kill a person for just equivalent of Rs. 100. Poverty/greed...whatever. But then the damage is permanent. We ofcourse need to safeguard ourselves but shd it be at the cost of a gun?
Anycase just be extra extra cautious with its usage.
By Has to be me, at 2:06 AM
what a contrast with ur last post .. ur last post was all about peace , and this one is abt violence .. contrast .. right ?????
but , i dont get it .. why do u have a gun ? u said itz for protection and all ... but it it really needed ?
By ~*. D E E P A .* ~, at 4:28 AM
guns...having seen too much of the army n the military..i think sometimes its the most dangerous thing ever invented...but then they say with power comes responsibility..and you need yours right now..
By ESIH, at 9:59 AM
I dont really think one needs to have a firearm for safety in the house...
Its just not a toy and regular people shouldnt be handling them anyways
By Anonymous, at 1:02 PM

al rt ..
ajay:
it isnt a passion..but as a sport its fun.....and then its handy for safety....
has to be me:
'tend to loose self control & even for the slightest sign of anger we might tend to misuse it' surely the ppl who cannot control there anger shud not keep one.......
no doubt its dangerous.....in fact tht was also one of the reason for this post..to tell the ppl the risk involved......
accidents happen.....but i believe it helps to protect too...so may ppl are targeted even in their homes...perhaps if they had gones it wud discourage those bad elements......
By Jackal, at 1:08 PM
deeps :
nothing like tht....guns are strictly for target shooting...n to keep one secure......i firmly believe in non violence......but if some one endangers the life of the ppl i love i wud not hesitate to pull the trigger...even the law doesn't treat tht as a crime..... but relax we have had guns since ages but nothng of this sort has happened.....
sushmita:
'having seen too much of the army n the military'..n u never tried one ?
surely the very mature and responsible shud think of keeping one...n i think i am all tht :) otherwise dad wud never ever permit.....
By Jackal, at 1:19 PM
wow! so jealous of you! i always wanted to learn how to shoot! :P
only thing that i ever did was PAINTBALL. i know that don't count :P
it's not to have guns around when kids are present.
but again, some ppl have guns but they don't even know how to use it.
By Dalicia, at 11:51 PM
gun!!!...oh god..mez scare with jack now......why gun...i mean gun is necessary there...
gun in ur house!..is that necessary jack? i mean how peace come from bullet.....
yeah i understand security of ones life comes from sword too....but normal plp like us do we need gun to protect ourself....hope everything is fine in ur home town....i'm really worried now yaar...just take care jack and do explain me all this stuff...coz i wanna know wats happening......

here is a brave gal :))..u can sill learn it isnt as complicated....
nitika:
may be one wud not need a gun ..but only if there arn't those bad guys lurking arnd..with all kind of weapons..which are not even legal......dont worry everything is fine.....i dont know but in this area to have a gun is very very normal......
ishita:
thnx ..have fun....byee tcc
By Jackal, at 12:58 PM
Yes, we need to be really careful with guns, but they also do give us that sense of power and responsibility. I`ve not used big guns. I`ve just fired using .303 rifle and it was fun. As we were NCC Air Squadron Technical Wing, we never got to play around with guns much, I must say.
Nice Post.
With Best Regards,
srijith.

You seem to have not learnt anything from your childhood experience.Shooting at a brick wall is stupid and dangerous.I would strongly urge you to learn the basics of safe handling of firearms and always use ear and eye protection.Guns are not glamourous, nor are they dangerous per se.They are just a tool for a specific purpose.Treat even an empty firearm as a loaded one and don't point it at anybody unless you plan to shoot the person. Always have a backstop.
